Burti's Opel test postponed
Former grand prix racer Luciano Burti will have to wait for his first taste of a DTM car after his planned test with Opel was washed out at EuroSpeedway Lausitz this week
The former Ferrari test driver was scheduled to drive a Team Holzer-run Astra V8 Coupe on Tuesday but low temperatures and heavy rain caused the entire three-day test to be cancelled.
He would have been joined by British Formula 3 champion Alan van der Merwe, Porsche Supercup champion Wolf Henzler and former Mercedes DTM racer Thomas Jager, who has been released by the Three-pointed Star. Opel's F3 junior team drivers Timo Glock and Ulster's Adam Carroll also were also due to get a test.
"The DTM series is quite strong," said Burti. "The teams and drivers are of a high standard and it could be one of my options. I still want to race next year."
Opel intends to reschedule the test for sometime next month, although that was small comfort to Burti who had flown all the way from Sao Paulo on Monday.
