Burti positive after Opel test
Luciano Burti emerged satisfied with his DTM test experience with Opel at Misano. The Brazilian was among several 2004 hopefuls to be assessed at the Italian circuit last week. Opel is known to be looking for some new race drivers for next year's programme
"The DTM car is quite good to driver," said former Grand Prix driver Burti. "It allows you to be aggressive, but under control, making the driving style very similar to a Formula 3."
Opel also tried out F3 stars Timo Glock, Adam Carroll and Alan van der Merwe, German Porsche Supercup driver Wolf Henzler and Mercedes DTM man Thomas Jäger.
"The professionalism of the drivers, who come from different categories, was refreshing and pleasing," said Opel's Ulrich Pfisterer, who oversaw the test programme. "The achievement level was high and remarkably balanced."
Opel fielded their 2003 Astra cars, but Manuel Reuter and test driver Marcel
Tiemann were there to develop new components towards the Vectra GTS model that the team will run next year.
"We had consistent conditions and no problems," said Tiemann. "We were able to work on more things that we had expected."
