Aiello gets rebuilt car for Norisring
Reigning DTM champion Laurent Aiello goes into this weekend's fifth round of the series at the legendary Norisring street track knowing that he needs to kickstart his championship campaign
The Frenchman's Abt Sportsline Audi TT-R has been completely rebuilt since the last round at EuroSpeedway Lausitz, where it was heavily damaged in a high-speed crash.
"I need to break my duck," said Aiello. "Following the accident at the EuroSpeedway, I have an almost new car at the Norisring. Maybe, that is a good opportunity for a new start. The first victory would surely be a great reward for the team, which had to put in some night shifts again. I am not that far down in the points, so anything can happen."
Team director Hans-Jurgen Abt said that both the cars of Aiello and Christian Abt are 100 percent race-ready after their respective shunts on the Lausitz banking two weeks ago.
"We have taken the two cars entirely apart and thoroughly checked every single part," he said. "It turned out that the cars could be repaired in time, which is a big compliment to the mechanics."
