Abt focuses on strategy for Lausitz

The Abt Sportsline Audi squad has pinned its hopes for success on improving its race strategy in the sixth round of the DTM at Lausitzring this weekend - an area it feels it has been lacking in relation to series pace setters Mercedes-Benz

The Kempten-based squad, which won the Nurburgring round of the series with star driver Laurent Aiello, has decided to concentrate on improving its tactics for the EuroSpeedway Lausitz event, run on the circuit's road course layout.

"The entire squad has concentrated on improving tactics and strategies," said driver Christian Abt. "By the time we arrive at the EuroSpeedway we will have worked through every eventuality that can crop up during a race, so that we're ready for any situation. If we can manage this successfully then we'll be stronger than ever.

"We have fast cars and strong drivers. Now we just have to try harder to transfer our good qualifying positions into race results that count. With its medium fast corners and long straights I reckon this circuit suits our TT-Rs," he added.

Mercedes-Benz star Bernd Schneider currently dominates the series, 41 points ahead of AMG colleagues Marcel Fassler and Peter Dumbreck. Aiello has dropped to fifth in the title race, 55 points shy of Schneider.
