Thompson, Turner join SEAT line-up

Former British Touring Car Champion James Thompson and former McLaren test driver Darren Turner will join SEAT's British Touring Car Championship squad this season

Former champion Jason Plato had already been confirmed as the team's lead car, and  Turner and Thompson will share the second Leon.

Thompson will drive in the six rounds of the championship that don't clash with his World Touring Car Championship commitments, and Turner will make his debut in the series in the remaining four rounds.

It marks a return to the series for Thompson since winning his second BTCC title in 2004. In 2005 he spent a year with Alfa Romeo in the World Touring Car championship.

The move was announced on the Autosport main stage at the Autosport International Show in Brimingham.

Thompson said: "I'm made up about it. To get my deal with SEAT for the World Championship was fantastic and I'm was exceptionally pleased to do that.

"I missed racing in Britain last year - it was fantastic racing at Silverstone in the WTCC round. Hopefully I can contribute to SEAT winning the manufacturers championship."

Turner admits he has a lot to learn about the front wheel drive machinery, however he is excited about the challenge.

He said: "I know I've got a lot to learn adapting to front wheel drive. I've done two years in german touring car last couple of tears in sportscars. But I've got the two best guys to learn off.

"I did seven laps with the SEAT just before Christmas. It was a cold day at Rockingham damp in places. It is about making the best of the power you have got and you can't afford to make too many mistakes."
