Plato wins again in second race

Jason Plato made it two British Touring Car Championship wins out of two with another dominant performance at Snetterton

Plato led from start to finish, as he did in race one, with a perfect day for SEAT only ruined when his teammate Darren Turner lost a sure second place to a left-front puncture on lap 15.

Turner's misfortune, combined with a slide onto the grass from Team Halfords Honda driver Gordon Shedden two laps later, handed second place to Colin Turkington, who came home three seconds behind Plato.

The Team RAC driver was forced to work for his position by Vauxhall's Fabrizio Giovanardi, though. After going off onto the grass at the Esses earlier in the race, champion Giovanardi battled back up from 17th, but could not find a way by the skilfully-driven BMW of Turkington.

Giovanardi's excellent fightback saw his championship lead increased to 28 points, albeit ahead of Plato now, rather than Matt Neal, who recovered to fifth despite a mid-race spin after contact with Steven Kane.

Kane and teammate Rob Collard made it a great race for Motorbase BMW as they finished sixth and fourth respectively, while Mat Jackson was another to carve his way through the field, the BMW Dealer UK driver finishing seventh from 15th on the grid.

Jackson will start the final race of the day from the front row, but it will be Shedden, who finished eighth, on pole by virtue of the reverse grid rule.
