Neal Takes Race 2 at Oulton

British Touring Car Championship points leader Matt Neal made up for his earlier defeat at the hands of Jason Plato to grab victory in the second race at Oulton Park - after his rival was left fuming following a mid-race collision with nemesis Yvan Muller

Starting from pole position Plato kept his nose clean at the start of the race to take the lead ahead of Neal, with Muller getting the jump on Dan Eaves to slot into third place.

Over the opening laps Plato was unable to open up much of an advantage and Neal was eager to find a way past with Muller pushing him hard from behind.

The decisive moment of the race came on lap seven when Neal pulled off a daring move that started out of Lodge corner and saw him and Plato run side-by-side through Old Hall and down into Cascades.

Neal just had the right line to slot into the lead, but a pursuing Muller saw what he thought was a good opportunity to demote Plato even more, and made a bold attempt at grabbing second - only to tap the SEAT driver off the track.

As Neal and Muller roared off to eventually finish first and second, Plato was dropped well down the order and, after he and Vauxhall's Gavin Smith were involved in an incident with Colin Turkington, the pair had to come into the pits for new tyres.

They resumed close together and put on a major fight for 10th place, the position that guarantees pole position in the reverse grid final race of the day, with Plato eventually taking that spot.

Eaves finished third, coming in more than two seconds adrift of Muller, with Rob Collard taking fourth ahead of Tom Chilton and Turkington.
