Neal out to prove himself in 2008

Two-time British Touring Car champion Matt Neal is aiming to prove himself against reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi this season

Neal won back-to-back titles for his family-run Dynamics team in 2005 and '06 but left the squad at the end of last season to join Giovanardi at Vauxhall.

Speaking on the stage at the Autosport International Show, Neal said: "It wasn't an easy decision but I want to prove to myself and to the industry that I can do it outside of my own team and comfort zone.

"To go up against one of the best touring car drivers in the world in the same car is a huge challenge."

Neal is also looking forward to competing against the Honda Civic he helped develop last season: "It really came on last year and it's probably going to be a real thorn in my side this season," he said.

"We start testing in Spain in two weeks and Dynamics will be there too, so the first head to head will be very soon."
