Muller wants to continue winning run

Vauxhall star Yvan Muller is looking to add to his current British Touring Car Championship three-race winning streak at Silverstone this weekend, despite the fact that his Astra will once again run with maximum success ballast

Despite carrying a full weight penalty for the last round of the championship at Thruxton, the Frenchman took a double victory to add to his earlier win at Brands Hatch. However, Muller is expecting a strong challenge from team-mate James Thompson and Honda driver Matt Neal, both of whom have won races this season.

"At Thruxton, because of the weight penalties I had, the two victories were very special," said Muller. "I will hope for the same thing at Silverstone, but it will be very hard to repeat this success. At Thruxton everything was perfect and it was a fantastic weekend, but to do that every week is nearly impossible. For sure we will try!

"At Silverstone Jimmy has no weight, and Neal is minus 60 kg [compared to Muler], so I expect these two cars to be in front of me on the grid. It will be tough to qualify on the front row, but I will try."

Muller's team-mate Thompson had a disappointing weekend at Thruxton, finishing fourth and fifth in the races. "Historically I've always gone well there and to be so far off the pace was very frustrating," he said. "It was obvious there was some sort of problem, and the team have taken it very seriously. They've made changes to the car and hopefully that will ensure I'm back on the pace at Silverstone."
