Muller Expects to Bounce Back

Former British Touring Car Champion Yvan Muller believes that Vauxhall's struggles at Thruxton last weekend are only a temporary glitch and that his team remain a major threat to arch rivals Team Halfords Honda for title honours

Muller and his teammates Colin Turkington and Gavin Smith were unable to match the pace of Honda duo Dan Eaves and Matt Neal throughout the Thruxton weekend as they struggled to adapt their Astra cars to the tyres given to them for the weekend.

And although Muller and Turkington managed to grab podium finishes, they lost ground in the title chase to treble winner Eaves and Neal.

But looking back on their performance, Muller is confident that Vauxhall will be back in the hunt for victories at the next round of the series at Brands Hatch in June.

"It has been a difficult weekend, but we got there in the end," said Muller, who had some pretty spectacular battles throughout the Thruxton event. "We now go to Brands Hatch with more experience of the car and return to our usual tyres."

Vauxhall's VX Racing team brand manager Stuart Harris said: "It was a mixed bag of results this weekend but it ended well.  Given where we started this morning, to actually finish second and third in the final race at a meeting where we didn't think we'd end up with much, to be honest, is fantastic.  Roll on Brands Hatch."
