Leslie fastest in first session

It's Nissan on top of the timesheets yet again at Donington Park, scene of

the latest two rounds of the Auto Trader British Touring Car Championship.
But just for a change it's David Leslie who will start tomorrow's Feature
race from pole. The Nissan Primera driver was the only person to get around
the 2.5-mile Grand Prix circuit in under 1:36s.

James Thompson will be alongside him on the front row, the Honda Accord
driver almost 0.3s slower.

Third quickest was championship leader Laurent Aiello in the other Nissan,
fortunate to be so near the front. He had two other cars between himself
and Thompson, but both lost their times due to infringements.

Peter Kox, in the second Honda, lost his time when he failed to restart
from the weighbridge. The team changed the battery and sent him out again,
but the session ended just as he was about to start his flying lap.

Yvan Muller was sent to the back of the grid from third when his Vauxhall
Vectra failed the ride-height check - a perennial problem for the Vauxhall
squad.

Leading Independent was Matt Neal, the Nissan Primera driver qualifying
sixth. His nearest rival is Lee Brookes, back after missing a couple of
meetings with an arm injury. Brookes qualified his Honda Accord twelfth
overall.
