Kox falls victim to 'track rage'

Peter Kox has accused Vincent Radermecker and John Cleland of driving into him on the slowing down lap after the BTCC race at Silverstone at the weekend

Honda driver Peter Kox claims he was the victim of a 'track rage' attack at the end of Sunday's British Touring Car Championship sprint race at Silverstone.

The Dutchman was rammed from behind by TWR Volvo's Vincent Radermecker on the slowing down lap following a clash in the race.

Afterwards, Kox stormed, 'It's terrible - I have never had this happen in 15 years of racing.'

Radermecker was angry after a collision with Kox at Abbey put his S40 off the circuit. 'I was very upset,' said the Belgian. 'He [Kox] didn't try to overtake.'

Volvo's number two driver admitted he drove into the back of Kox afterwards in frustration: 'It was to tell him not to do it again.'

After the race, Radermecker charged into Honda's pit to remonstrate with Kox.

It is also alleged that Vauxhall driver John Cleland hit the back of Kox after the race. He had also made contact with the Accord during the 15-lap race.

The Scotsman said: 'He [Kox] seems incapable of passing anybody without hitting them." Cleland didn't admit to Kox's allegation, but did say: "I waved my finger at him.'

Neither Cleland nor Radermecker was penalised, although both were reprimanded. The incident was not caught on camera or seen by trackside marshals.
