AmD British Touring Car Championship team reveals 2018 line-up

Series regular Ollie Jackson and British Touring Car Championship rookie Sam Smelt will form AmDTuning.com's line-up this season driving the team's Audi S3 saloons

Jackson is preparing for his third season with the West Thurrock-based squad, which tested former series runner-up Sam Tordoff over the winter.

A veteran of 147 BTCC races, Jackson finished in ninth place in the Independents Trophy standings last year and will be eligible for the Jack Sears Trophy, which will run for drivers who have yet to score a podium in the series.

Smelt, 21, will make his BTCC debut after contesting British F4 and VW Cup races in 2017.

AmD team principal Shaun Hollamby said: "[Ollie] has taken huge strides forwards since he rejoined us back in 2016, particularly last year, which was arguably his strongest season in the BTCC.

"Our hope for 2018 is to see him regularly challenge towards the top 10 and push for the Jack Sears Trophy title.

"Sam faces a steep learning curve as a rookie driver, but he did a solid job when he tested the car in tricky conditions back in November.

"He is a youngster with a lot of potential, and there is no reason why he can't look to challenge for points as the season goes on."
