22nd Award winner to be announced
Young British drivers Luciano Bacheta, Tom Blomqvist, Jack Harvey, Scott Malvern, Nigel Moore and Lewis Williamson will find out tonight which of them has won the 2010 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award at the annual AUTOSPORT Awards in London
Autosport Awards
The Autosport Awards are a series of awards presented by motor racing magazine Autosport to drivers that have achieved significant milestones each season. Some of the presentations are selected by the general public via a reader's poll.
The victor will join the likes of David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti, Jenson Button, Gary Paffett and Paul di Resta on the list of winners of the prestigious award, which this year features an increased cash prize of £100,000 as well as the traditional McLaren Formula 1 test, plus full BRDC membership, Puma racewear for a year, and a TW Steel watch.
The six contenders were assessed in Mercedes DTM and Formula 2 machinery over two days at Silverstone last month.
This year's finalists come from across the junior single-seater spectrum. Blomqvist narrowly beat Williamson to the Formula Renault UK title, while Bacheta was second in the category's Eurocup.
Harvey also spent his season on the European scene, where he only just lost out in the Formula BMW Europe title race. Malvern made his name in Formula Ford, taking second in this year's British standings, while Moore claimed the championship in Formula Palmer Audi's swansong season.
