Vettel eyes more success at Awards

World champion Sebastian Vettel will be hoping for one more victory over his Formula 1 title rivals at tonight's AUTOSPORT Awards in London

Autosport Awards

The Autosport Awards celebrate top drivers and machines, with categories decided by votes and panels

Vettel is among the leading contenders in the International Racing Driver of the Year category, where he is sure to face opposition from season-long challengers Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

Last year Button took an AUTOSPORT Awards double - winning both the International Racing Driver and British Competition of the Year awards. Button and Hamilton will both be in the hunt for the latter once again, with non-F1 contenders including IndyCar champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti, and DTM champion Paul di Resta.

The AUTOSPORT.com Rookie of the Year award pitches top F1 newcomers Kamui Kobayashi, Nico Hulkenberg and Vitaly Petrov against each other. Their rivals include GP2's Sam Bird and Jules Bianchi, World Rally Championship newcomer Kimi Raikkonen, Formula 2 and Formula 3 champions Dean Stoneman and Jean-Eric Vergne, and IndyCar's Alex Lloyd and Simona de Silvestro.

Other categories include International Racing Car of the Year and International Rally Driver of the Year, while the evening ends with the announcement of the winner of this year's McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award, which will see one of six young British drivers chosen to receive the increased £100,000 prize and McLaren F1 test.
