Iaconelli wins in Auto GP
Carlos Iaconelli took victory in the second Auto GP race at Imola, in which the field was decimated by a destructive startline collision
While first and third-placed starters Celso Miguez and Iaconelli got away cleanly at the start, outside front row man Stefano Coletti was slow away, and made contact with Jonny Reid.
This triggered a chain reaction that also took out Fabio Onidi, Luca Filippi, Edoardo Piscopo and Walter Grubmuller - the latter requiring precautionary checks in hospital but escaping injury.
After a safety car period, Durango driver Iaconelli passed Miguez (RP) for the lead on lap four and then pulled away to win by a commanding margin.
Miguez resisted pressure from Duncan Tappy and most of the other surviving cars to retain second to the end.
