Adrian Quaife-Hobbs to evaluate 2013 Auto GP car in Barcelona test

Auto GP's heavily-revised 2013 car will make its debut in the forthcoming two-day test at Barcelona

As first revealed by AUTOSPORT in August, the car is based on the current Lola-Zytek but features updated sidepods and front and rear aerodynamics. A new steering wheel and pedals have also been introduced.

2012 champion Adrian Quaife-Hobbs will evaluate the new car on Thursday and Friday.

2011 Auto GP and GP2 runner-up Luca Filippi was set to join the Briton, but will instead travel to Estoril to test BMW's DTM title-winning M3.

The series, which recently revealed an eight-event calendar for 2013, predicts the new car will improve lap times by around 1.5s.

"I'm really looking forward to the two-day test set for Thursday and Friday at Barcelona. We'll be able to evaluate a good driver roster for 2013 and also test the improvements made to the new Auto GP race car we will be running next season," series boss Enzo Coloni said.

"The test driver will be 2012 Champion Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, while Luca Filippi, who was set to partner him, was selected to test a DTM car for BMW.

"I want to congratulate Luca for this opportunity, as he was one of the drivers brought to success by Auto GP and also scored outstanding results with the Coloni family in the 2011 and 2012 GP2 Series."
