Thompson set to join WTCC field

James Thompson is looking forward to finally joining the World Touring Car Championship season at Valencia next weekend, after completing the final test of his new car at Oschersleben this week

The Briton missed the opening two events at Curitiba and Puebla because his N.Technology Honda Accord Euro R wasn't ready in time for the beginning of the season. But he is now confident that the team are ready to join the field at Valencia.

"These two days at Oschersleben make up the last test before we race and each time we progress towards being competitive," he said. "There's definitely more development to come, and a lot more to come from the car, but the potential is great.

"We can't compare ourselves to the other teams at the moment. We don't know how the others are testing but we look forward to Valencia so we can understand our real position. At the moment, we're optimistic and look to challenge the front of the field."
