Thompson leads final practice

James Thompson continued SEAT's domination of this weekend's World Touring Car Championship meeting at Brands Hatch, by topping the timesheets in the final free practice session before qualifying

The top four positions all went to SEAT drivers, with Yvan Muller ending the session just 0.021 seconds behind his British teammate. All three practice sessions so far have been topped by SEAT drivers.

Swede Rickard Rydell was third quickest ahead of German Peter Terting, with all four cars covered by less than four tenths of a second.

Alain Menu's Chevrolet was the quickest non-SEAT in fifth place.

The track has dried since this morning's heavy showers, however that didn't stop several drivers spinning or going off onto the grass. Augusto Farfus Jr spun at Graham Hill Bend, as did Rydell at the superfast Westfield bend.

Robert Huff's Chevrolet also hit trouble, going through the Paddock Hill Bend gravel trap.

The biggest accident was suffered by the Alfa Romeo of Salvatore Tavano, who crashed head first into the barriers at the exit of Westfield, spinning back on to the track before digging into the grass off the circuit. Moments later the privateer BMW of Emmett O'Brien spun at virtually the same spot, thankfully missing Farfus's stricken 156.

The session was red flagged at this point and not restarted.
