S'Prod qualifying: Rock on Tommy

Tommy Rustad will start tomorrow's final round of the Super Production element of the FIA European Touring Car Championship from pole position in his Nissan Primera, his fourth consecutive pole of the season

The Norwegian eked out a 0.179s advantage over the BMW of Norman Simon, who is close behind Rustad in the championship, while a last-gasp effort from Tobia Masini netted him third on the grid in his Alfa Romeo 156.

"It's a good way to end the season," said Rustad. "We had a few problems in practice, but I felt I really got the best out of my tyres."

Series debutant Tom Coronel was fourth quickest in his BMW, ahead of the man he is supposed to be helping to the title, Duncan Huisman. Importantly, sixth placed Huisman is two places ahead of arch rival Peter Kox, but he will have to finish the race ahead of his fellow countryman to steal the crown.

Tom Ferrier was a solid ninth in his Edenbridge-run BMW, while Jarama hero James Hanson could only manage 13th.
