Rankings: Huff moves to all-time high despite title defeat

Rob Huff moved to an all-time high in the Castrol EDGE Rankings despite losing out to Chevrolet team-mate Yvan Muller in the fight for the 2011 WTCC title

Huff, who led the championship for the opening 16 races, trailed Muller by 20 points heading into Macau, where he had won three times in the past three years.

He continued the streak in the opening race of 2011, holding off Muller for victory to retain a mathematical chance of title glory - although the Briton would have to win and see Muller finish fifth or lower in order to triumph.

Huff fulfilled his end of the criteria by sealing victory in race two, his fifth on the Guia circuit and eighth of the season.

It was not enough to resist Muller in the championship however, as the Frenchman clinched his third WTCC crown courtesy of a third-place finish.

Speaking after the race Huff insisted he had done everything in his power to win the World Touring Car Championship, an argument born out by the Rankings as he rose one spot to 40th - his highest ever position.

Muller meanwhile remained 38th, just two spots and less than 300 points ahead of his British rival.

Across in F3 Daniel Juncadella boosted his own ranking courtesy of victory in a thrilling Macau Grand Prix.

The 20-year-old Spaniard came out on top after a four-way slipstreaming battle for the lead and, once out front, slowly edged away to seal victory. He rose 24 places to 139th as a result.

Felipe Nasr and Marco Wittmann, the latter of whom had led in the opening stages, rounded out the podium trio to seal their own gains.

Wittmann, the higher of the two, rose 18 places to 112th, while Nasr, the 2011 British F3 champion, gained 26 positions to move to an all-time high of 150th.
