Huff scores maiden win in Brno

Robert Huff claimed his maiden World Touring Car Championship win at the wheel of his Chevrolet Lacetti, with race two in the Czech Republic being the second win in the series for the manufacturer

The Brit, who finished race 1 in eighth place, started from pole position at the Brno track thanks to the grid being reversed in race two. He got off the grid faultlessly and kept the lead until the chequered flag while being pressured throughout the race by compatriot Andy Priaulx.

Priaulx got to the first corner in second place, thanks to having overtaken two cars at the start, including Alain Menu on the other front-row-starting Chevrolet Lacetti.

Jorg Muller, winner of race 1, jumped into fourth place in the first lap, and by the start of the third lap was fighting hard with Alain Menu. Their battle lasted for almost two laps, when in the last corner of lap 4 the German tried to pass the Swiss on the inside but clashed against him and pushed his car onto the grass.

This resulted in Menu going to the pits with a damaged front left wheel which caused him to retire, while Muller carried on unscathed.

In the last couple of laps Yvan Muller's SEAT Leon was all over the back of Alex Zanardi's BMW, both drivers battling for third place. The fight didn't last long, as on the first corner of the last lap the two came together. Muller plunged on the inside but braked too late and clashed into Zanardi, pushing the Italian into the gravel and out of the race.

The Frenchman managed to keep his podium position until the end, leading a 3-4-5 placing for the Mullers, Jorg and Dirk respectively following Yvan.

The independents' race was won by Stefano d'Aste in the BMW 320i.
