FIA GT Superpole: Hezemans on top
Mike Hezemans will start Sunday's sixth round of the FIA GT Championship at the Hungaroring from pole position in his Carsport Holland Chrysler Viper
The Dutchman lapped the Hungarian Grand Prix venue in 1m38.186s in his newly re-painted machine, two-tenths faster than fellow countryman Tom Coronel in the leading Lister Storm. Series leader Christophe Bouchut will start from third on the grid in his Larbre Competition Chrysler Viper.
"I saw the times from the earlier guys and thought, 'Jeez, I gotta push'," said Hezemans. "I see the Lister of Tom and Jamie Campbell-Walter and my main opposition tomorrow."
The fastest man in this morning's practice session, Julian Bailey, could only manage the fourth fastest time in the second Lister, but his time was over a second clear of Rickard Rydell in the debuting Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranello.
David Terrien led the N-GT category in his JMB Competition Ferrari 360 Modena, ahead of the Porsches of Philipp Peter and Fabio Babini.
