Chevrolet withdraw Menu appeal
Chevrolet have decided to withdraw their appeal against Alain Menu's disqualification for his third placed finish in Macau
The Swiss driver lost his position after post-race checks found that there was only half a litre of fuel left in his car, as opposed to the minimum three litres demanded by the regulations.
But although the team stand by their stance that the fuel problem was caused by an accident Menu suffered in the first race, which damaged the car's electronics and led to a higher than normal fuel consumption, Chevrolet have decided not to fight the disqualification.
Chevrolet Europe's Motorsport Manager, Eric Neve said: "When Alain hit the barriers in the first race, the shock dislocated the electrical contact with the potentiometer, which activated the safe-mode of the electronics box which in turn allowed for a richer air-fuel mixture in order to cool the second Lambda. This then caused the higher fuel consumption, with the results we know.
"Despite this incident, I think we have shown our potential, which has steadily grown over the season. In order to continue to show this form we will embark on a stringent winter test schedule."
