World Rallycross launches talent search for RX Lites chance
The World Rallycross Championship has launched a talent search that will take place in the build-up to the Motorsport News World RX of Great Britain in May
MSA competition licence holders aged between 18 and 30 have been invited to put their names forward for the contest, the winner of which will receive a free drive in the supporting RX Lites Cup category at the Turkish round, which is held at ex-Formula 1 grand prix venue Istanbul Park in October.
Reigning World RX teams' champion OlsbergsMSE will provide three RX Lites cars for the shootout between up to 15 finalists.
Judges will include 2001 World Rally champion co-driver Robert Reid from the MSA Academy, 2013 British Touring Car champion and former rallycross ace Andrew Jordan, World RX chief Martin Anayi, OlsbergsMSE team boss Andreas Eriksson and Motorsport News deputy editor Matt James.
"This is a fantastic initiative and is going be an eye-opening experience for all the finalists - notably the winner, who will get a really great insight into the sport when competing in Turkey," said Reid.
"Rallycross is fast becoming a really credible and exciting career path for any young driver to consider, indeed the MSA Academy already reflects its growing status with rallycross prospects now joining young racers and rally crews on the scheme."
Anayi added: "An RX talent search is something that has been on our radar for some time and thanks to the MSA, Ford Olsbergs MSE and Lydden Hill, we're now able to get this project off the ground."
