Wilson Shook Down New Focus

Ford team principal Malcolm Wilson admitted to driving the brand new Focus RS WRC 06 'quite hard' in its maiden test last week

According to this week's Autosport, the car, which is set to debut on next month's Rally Australia, completed its first serious mileage at an airfield in Cumbria last week in the hands of former rally driver Wilson and the car's designer, Christian Loriaulx.

Wilson said: "I'm still smiling. We had driven the car around the estate here at M-Sport the week before to make sure nothing fell off. When we got to the airfield we were actually driving the thing quite hard and it went without any problems at all.

"The fact that we did 300km in just two days is a good indication that we haven't had any problems. To be honest, however, this was just a shakedown.

"The main test is still to come though. The two forest tests we have planned are really important for the whole team and the car."
