SS18, Collsesplanes 2: Bugalski proves a point

Long-time leader Philippe Bugalski finished the Catalunya Rally on a high with fastest time over the last stage, Collsesplanes 2

The Citroen Xsara T4 driver was a full seven seconds quicker than the field over the 26.28km stage. Peugeot's Gilles Panizzi was next up, the Frenchman explaining that: "This afternoon I just kept my concentration, because the roads were difficult."

The men who join him on the podium, third placed Tommi Makinen and rally winner Didier Auriol, were next fastest over the stage.

Francois Delecour set the fifth fastest time ahead of the men he had been battling for overall position, Carlos Sainz and Freddy Loix, but Delecour's advantage over the stage was not enough to move him up from seventh overall. Loix was sixth fastest in the stage, but a happy fifth overall, ahead of Sainz.

Eighth place on Collsesplanes 2 for Richard Burns mirrored the Subaru man's place overall.
