Solberg sweeps superspecial
Petter Solberg completed a day of domination on Wales Rally GB by setting the fastest time on the final stage of the day, a third run around Cardiff's popular superspecial stage
The Subaru ace's fastest time means that he has set the pace on every one of the day's eight stages, in the process ensuring him of a clear run at the rally victory and the world title tomorrow.
Sebastien Loeb, whose world title hopes have dimmed by the stage, once again played second fiddle to Solberg, lapping the track just 0.3s slower. The Citroen star will head into the final day 41.2s in arrears - a surely insurmountable margin for him to overcome in the final three stages.
Colin McRae was third fastest, although he only took 0.2s out of Tommi Makinen in their entertaining fight for third overall.
Francois Duval was fifth fastest around the track in his Ford Focus WRC, ahead of the works Peugeot duo of Freddy Loix and Harri Rovanpera.
