Service K - Te Kauwhata: Quotes
Richard Burns (Subaru) - first: "It's kind of what we expected. It's not as much fun being first on the road as it was being ninth yesterday. It could be tight at the finish, but I'm not worried. The six remaining stages are all short and they are repeated. There is only about 25km of fresh gravel."
(Ford) - second, +21.6s: "It's still possible to catch Richard. We needed to take half a second per kilometre from him and we've taken more than that. That has put us in a position where we need to keep pushing."
(Ford) - third, +58.5s: "I feel ok. I will try to keep ahead of Harri [Rovanpera] now, but he and Marcus [Gronholm] are still very close. Everything is still possible."
(Peugeot) - fourth, +59.4s: "On the last stage I stalled the engine under braking for a very tight right-hander. It's also difficult because it's my first time over those stages and it is very slippery."
(Peugeot) - fifth, +1m10.8s: "I spun in the last stage trying to catch Carlos. It was a fast right-hander which went immediately into a left-hander. I had to find reverse and turn the car. It cost me at least 10 seconds."
(Mitsubishi) - seventh, +2m26.8s: He suffered a slow puncture to his left front tyre just 300m into the 31km stage (SS18)
(Subaru) - eighth, +2m39.7s: "I should have chosen the narrow tyre instead of the wide one. I had a half-spin on the second stage - we went very sideways."
(Ford) - 12th, 5m31.0s: The Frenchman spun in SS18 and the engine stopped. He lost 40 seconds trying to start it again.
