Marcus Gronholm: (Peugeot) - rally leader: "My car is perfect now. Last night I asked the team to change all of the steering parts and now it's working very well. I pushed hard this morning but took no big risks"

Service G-Harvey: Notes & quotes

(Subaru) - second, +16.2s: "I can understand the gap to Marcus on the first stage today, because I don't think I drove very well. But in the second one, he set a very good time."

(Peugeot) - third, +33.5s: "The car's handling is undriveable. It is snaking along the road. I hope they find what's wrong with it."

(Peugeot) - fourth, +44.7s: Front tyres were almost worn out on SS11. Reports that his steering "feels funny".

(Ford) - fifth, +58.0s: "If I get through today without letting Makinen or Solberg past then I should be able to hold them off tomorrow. That's all I can do."

(Subaru) - sixth, +2m00.5s: "I was very careful on the first stage, there was a lot of rocks and I didn't want to get a puncture. I pushed harder on the second stage and it went perfectly."

(Mitsubishi) - seventh, +2m04.1s: Suffered from a soft brake pedal in SS11, fixed it before SS12. Reports that his back feels better and the pace notes are good too.

(Mitsubishi) - ninth, +3m08.2s: "My position on the road is better today, that's the only reason my times are quicker."

(Ford) - 10th, + 3m48.4s: Suffering problems with the mousse in his Pirelli tyres breaking up, which cause a big vibration. Also encountering steering woes.

(Hyundai) - 11th, +4m20.4s: "The car cut out on the road section before the first stage. It restarted with a misfire and cleared while I was in the stage."
