Rally Finland secures new WRC deal
Rally Finland's position in the World Rally Championship has been secured until the end of 2014 - after WRC promoter ISC signed a landmark agreement with the Jyvaskyla-based event
Rally Finland is one of the WRC's iconic events - and one of the biggest commercial success stories in the sport's recent history.
The organisers of the rally are now committing a multi-million pound budget to building a new hotel in the service park and a new superspecial stage on the outskirts of the host town.
Rally Finland is the first event to secure a long-term agreement with the WRC's new promoter.
ISC chairman Neil Duncanson said: "There is no doubt that Rally Finland represents the very best of the WRC - but we want to give them the opportunity to grow still further and in turn encourage other events to aspire to their extraordinarily high quality levels."
Rally Finland promoter Jarmo Mahonen added: "We are delighted to have agreed this extended relationship with the WRC. Rallying is integral to all Finnish motorsport fans and we have produced many heroes of the sport in the past, which we wish to continue to do in the future."
Rally Finland, round nine of the WRC, starts from Jyvaskyla this evening.
