Rally Argentina: Stage 13

Marcus Gronholm has stabilised the gap to Colin McRae but now Richard Burns is closing in on the pair of them after setting the fastest time on stage 13 in Argentina

Gronholm has a 4.9s lead over McRae, who is 5.2s ahead of the flying Burns.

Tommi Makinen has moved fractionally clear of Juha Kankkunen in the battle for fourth, but neither driver seems capable of joining the lead fight.

Gronholm, who has not contested this event since his privateer days three years ago, felt he was struggling a little because of his lack of recent experience.

'I'm suffering from lack of knowledge here now,' he said. 'The others have done this many times, and three years ago in the Toyota Celica I was cruising compared to this.'

Overall positions after stage 13:

1 M Gronholm Peugeot 206 2h20m17.3s
2 C McRae Ford Focus 2h20m22.2s
3 R Burns Subaru Impreza 2h20m27.4s
4 T Makinen Mitsubishi Lancer 2h20m49.7s
5 J Kankkunen Subaru Impreza 2h20m52.5s
6 F Loix Mitsubishi Carisma 2h23m04.7s
7 A McRae Hyundai Accent 2h24m31.4s
8 P Solberg Ford Focus 2h25m57.3s
9 G Pozzo Mitsubishi Lancer 2h29m49.4s
10 G Trelles Mitsubishi Lancer 2h29m52.6s
