Paviljonki Service C Notes
Marcus Gronholm (Peugeot) - second, +3.5s: The Finn is not happy with the same right front shock that caused problems for team mate Rovanpera. The reigning champ had a left rear puncture on SS7, but then had another one just before SS8 and had to complete all of that stage as well as SS9 with foam in the tyre
(Subaru) - third, +13.6s: "I'm very happy to be third. It was really difficult on the repeated stages, I didn't want to take any chances, because you can lose the rally on those stages - you can't win them there. But tomorrow's stages I really like, and that's where you can win."
(Peugeot) - fourth, +29.0s: Auriol lost time on SS7 after being stuck behind Delecour. He couldn't see because of the dust and had to back off on the straights because it was dangerous.
(Peugeot) - fifth, +35.1s: (Shock absorber problem) "First I saw oil coming out of the damper and then by the last stage there was no oil in it at all and it was very soft."
(Ford) - 15th, +4m39.1s: Delecour had to run with no dashboard after a fault in team mate Colin McRae's car - and the lack of a spare unit - meant the Frenchman had to give his up. He therefore had no display, power steering or active differentials.
