Panizzi is favourite with bookies
Peugeot's clean sweep of the podium in the Tour de Corse has led most bookies to place the French marque firmly at the top of the odds tables for the Catalunya Rally, with tarmac specialist Gilles Panizzi again favourite to take the spoils in Spain this weekend
If you are looking to put money on the Frenchman to win, you'll be pushed to find better odds than the 11-4 Irish bookmaker Paddy Power is offering. Out of his two team mates, Marcus Gronholm and Richard Burns, the bookies seem to reckon that Gronholm will again be the faster of the two world champions.
But out to spoil Peugeot's party will be Citroen and out of the three works Xsaras competing in Spain, hotshoe Sebastien Loeb seems to be the biggest threat. He blitzed the opposition in the Super 1600 competition here last year and the best price you'll find on the 28-year-old is 11-2. Compatriot and team mate Philippe Bugalski may well be a force in Spain too; 'Le Petit Bug's' odds match those of Loeb.
A dark horse in Spain could be Jesus Puras. He is in a slightly older privateer Xsara, but at 10-1, that could be the best value each-way bet you'll get from the Peugeot/Citroen entries.
Bookmakers see the rest of the field fighting over the scraps left behind by the two French teams and chances are that Subaru and Ford will count themselves extremely lucky if one of their drivers gets on the podium.
Out of these two teams, Petter Solberg might be worth an each-way flutter.
