McRae Satisfied with First Day

Colin McRae was satisfied with his first day of WRC action in nearly two years, after completing Leg One of the Wales Rally GB, despite dropping from ninth to 13th on the final three stages

The former World Rally Champion stalled at the start of SS5 and finished the leg just over two minutes down on leader Sebastien Loeb.

"This morning really quite promising after the first stages and when we moved back into the second loop the stages they were more difficult," McRae said. "They were quite rutted and rough and the car was touching the ground a lot at the front. It was very difficult to get the car into the entry into the corner. We have to try and change that.

"It was not quite as good as I wanted to but all in all it has been a good day."

McRae will now start third tomorrow, because the top 15 are reversed for the second leg.

"Tomorrow stages are likely to be drier and they will be smoother but there will be a bit of an issue with the gravel on top. Basically the car is feeling reasonably good so we need to sort out the fine tuning of it."
