McRae Q&A: “What’s the point in us doing this?”

Colin McRae blamed spectator congestion on SS9 for losing him the overall lead to Mitsubishi's Tommi Makinen. Autosport.com caught up with him in service after the cancellation of SS10 to hear his thoughts on this afternoon's events

"I had to slow down about five times at least. They were just standing in the middle of the road. If it's going to be like this, then it's impossible to hold a rally in this area.

"The evidence is on the video tape. If they don't cancel the stage, what's the point in us doing what we're doing?"

"The crowds at the end were atrocious. There were marshals there, but they were obviously not doing anything."

"Monte Carlo's always bad."

"We'll try again and just see what happens. We'll have to choose the same tyres as we used this morning, but we'll look at the temperatures before making any decisions on an extra cut."
