McRae looks for home rally win

Colin McRae will be hoping to secure his third win of the season in front of his home crowd at the Rally of Great Britain

With the outcome of both the drivers' and manufacturers' titles already settled, the country's largest sporting event should witness a free-for-all shootout between the world's top rally drivers.

This year's 1815km event has been billed as the 'battle of the Brits' as McRae's Focus, takes on the Subaru of Richard Burns.

However, McRae is confident his recent good fortune at the Rally GB will continue at this year's event and put him in good stead for 2000.

'It obviously holds great memories for me,' said the Scot.

'Home knowledge is a big advantage for anyone, it should be very close, but I'm certainly not going into the event thinking second place would be a good result.

'I want to win and that would be a great way of ending the year - an ideal preparation for the start of next season.'
