Makinen looks for third win
Mitsubishi driver Tommi Makinen is hoping to take his third win of the year at next weeks Catalunya Rally in Spain
Makinen, who crashed heavily in the Safari Rally, has a history of success on the tarmac rally and has proved that this year's car is good on the black stuff.
'We had a very good test for this rally in the south of France. We have some small changes for the car and I am really looking forward to the rally. I like driving on tarmac and I think our Michelin tyres will be very strong,' said Makinen.
Team manager Phil Short confirmed that Makinen has recovered from his accident and is fit to drive: 'Freddy's Safari accident was obviously a setback and it will be difficult for him to recover his full form immediately. I'm sure he will be fit enough to put in a good performance.'
He also outlined feedback from the triple world champion after recent tests: 'Tommi is very enthusiastic about the progress we've made in recent testing and of course he has won here in the past.'
