Loeb Takes Control
Sebastien Loeb took control of the Acropolis Rally after winning the first four stages of Leg Two
The Citroen driver has a pulled out a 25.7 second lead, compared to the 6.0 seconds he had over Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm at the end of Leg One.
Gronholm has been the best of the rest after finishing runner-up to Loeb on all four of the morning's stages, however he has been unable to match the Frenchman's pace ahead of him.
Carlos Sainz continues to please the team he was brought out of retirement by and holds third place. However, the Spaniard but is now more than a minute behind his Citroen teammate, and is also currently unable to match Gronholm's pace.
Sainz in under pressure for his position from Toni Gardemeister in fourth place. The Ford Focus driver has been unable to set the consistent pace he showed in Leg One, but is only 4.8 seconds behind Sainz.
Privateer Mikko Hirvonen holds fifth place but is under huge pressure from the Mitsubishi's Harri Rovanpera, who is only 3.3 seconds behind. Rovanpera started the leg 19.5 seconds behind the Finn and has gradually hauled him in.
The major change in the order is for seventh place. Ford's Henning Solberg had held the position for most of the leg, however he hit trouble on SS11 and didn't record a time. Instead, Peugeot's Markko Martin took the position after overhauling Mitsubishi's Gigi Galli.
Petter Solberg put yesterday's nightmare behind him and started his climb up the leaderboard. After ending Leg One in 14th place following driveshaft problems and off stage excursions, the Norwegian rose to tenth place. However he is now more than four minutes off title rival Loeb.
Skoda factory driver Janne Tuohino did not re-start the rally despite the damage that forced his Fabia WRC out yesterday proving not too serious. The team has chosen to preserve the engine in the Finn's car for a future event.
The team's other points-nominated driver Armin Schwarz re-started the rally after engine problems yesterday and lies in 28th position.
