Loeb Open to Tactics Change
Wales Rally GB leader Sebastien Loeb said he is open to changing tactics and not fight for the victory, in order to conserve his Championship lead
Loeb pulled out a 25-second lead after SS5, but the Frenchman had his lead on the event cut to 9.9 seconds following a ten-second penalty for being late out of a time control.
However, the points leader promised to keep on pushing for the victory while he feels he is in with a chance of winning.
"We've got a good fight on our hands with Petter, and Marcus [Gr?nholm] is coming back very strongly," Loeb said. "Tomorrow I'll keep to the same pace. I feel comfortable with the car. I will play the game as long as I feel I can win, but I keep the option of changing tactics open.
"I'll know tomorrow if I'm happier with the stages being drier. The last stage of today was dry and I lost time to Gronholm on it.
"The Championship is more important but at the moment I have a good feeling with the car. When I start I want to win every rally but as long as I can fight for the win I try to do it."
Loeb described the late check-out of TC3, the lunchtime service period, as a mistake and promised it wouldn't happen again.
"We arrived at the perhaps one second too late out of the service," Loeb added. "We had a ten second penalty, I'll try not to do it again. It was a mistake but that's it."
