Grapevine: McRae to contest X Games Rally
Former World Rally Champion Colin McRae has accepted an invitation to compete in the X Games Rally in Los Angeles this August
ESPN's successful X Games are an annual American multi-sport event with a focus on action sports. X Games also has international competitions and demos around the world that are held at varying times throughout the year.
Competitors perform in many different categories and styles, vying to win bronze, silver and gold medals, as well as prize money.
McRae will compete in the X Games Rally section driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car prepared by Vermont SportsCar, the same group that manages Subaru Rally Team USA.
Nicky Grist will co-drive for McRae, as he did for his two WRC rallies with Skoda last season.
McRae will compete against motocross superstar turned Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana, eight-time US champ Paul Choiniere and 2005 Rally America champion, Pat Richard.
McRae is known in the U.S. beyond his motorsport success, through his series of Colin McRae Rally video games. However, this will be the first time the Scotsman has competed on U.S. soil.
X Games 12 will be held in Los Angeles, California between August 2 - 6 this year.
