Frentzen to try his hand at rallying
If Michael Schumacher is luke warm about taking up Colin McRae's rallying challenge just at the moment, countryman Heinz-Harald Frentzen is more than keen to have a go
Frentzen, underemployed in Magny Cours while Arrows sorts out its problems, said: "The idea was first mentioned to me by RTL - the German media channel - who thought it might be nice for their coverage. There was talk about doing something before Hockenheim but I'd quite like to have a proper go.
"When I thought about it, the logical thing is to do something with Ford, because there would be no clash of interest. I've spoken to Martin Whitaker at Ford and they have some proper facilities in Wales, so I'm hopeful that we can do something, although I'm not sure when."
Frentzen explained that a neighbour in Monaco contests the European championship and that they regularly discuss differences in driving technique.
"Grip levels are obviously different on tarmac and gravel," he said, "so there are a lot of interesting implications for steering and braking techniques. I think it would be interesting to be able to go so sideways without losing time."
