Delayed Fords promise to fight on

Ford team-mates Marcus Gronholm and Mikko Hirvonen have pledged to keep charging for points after the turbo problems that dropped them from first and fourth to 10th and 14th respectively at the end of leg one in Spain

Until the stage five drama, Gronholm had been leading his championship rival Sebastien Loeb by 9.3 seconds.

"I don't know exactly what the problem is, maybe some pipe loose," said Gronholm. "So we had no turbo.

"We have to fight for points because Loeb is set to win here again.

"But I'm happy with the performance, before the problem we could have won this rally."

Hirvonen was also philosophical about his similar problem. He had been battling with Dani Sordo for the final podium spot prior to losing power.

"It's rallying, sometimes things goes wrong, and now for me it looks like they're going wrong big time," Hirvonen said.

"It's going to be hard work because we are so far behind everybody now.

"I love to fight, but not trying to catch from five minutes behind. But there are two days to go, so for sure we'll keep on going and see how it's going to finish."
