Burns and Auriol neck-and-neck in Argentina
Richard Burns and Didier Auriol are turning the Second Leg of the Argentine Rally into a duel
Auriol is just shading it in the overall standings after Stage 11, which saw Burns fastest by two seconds.
Overnight leader Juha Kankkunen has slipped off the pace a little, finishing fourth with Carlos Sainz remaining steady in third.
The Subaru driver has won two of the day's stages, maintaining his overnight second place. But, he could have been ahead if not for a 10-second penalty awarded at the start of Stage 10.
Burns' car had a new electronic gearbox sensor fitted last night, and he had problems engaging gears. He only managed to start when he selected second gear, and he arrived late at the start.
But Auriol, who's won once today, has reclaimed the top spot he held briefly yesterday, displacing Kankkunen.
Stage order: Burns, Auriol, Sainz, Kankkunen, Makinen, Liatti, Radstrom, Loix, Trelles, Rovanpera
There are four stages left today (See World Rally section on AUTOSPORT Online for the latest).
