WEC LMP2 title winner Julien Canal joins Greaves Motorsport

The Frenchman, who claimed the WEC title with Sam Bird and Roman Rusinov at the OAK-run G-Drive team, will drive Greaves Motorsport's new Ligier-Nissan JSP2 in the six-round ELMS and at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

He will share the LMP2 car with three-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Memo Rojas, and a final driver to be announced shortly.

Canal, who has won his class at Le Mans on three occasions, said: "I have two years' experience in LMP2 with Ligier and I will bring all my knowledge of that car to the team.

"Our common goal is to win the ELMS, and I trust 100 per cent in Greaves Motorsport to realise this goal."

Team manager Jacob Greaves added that the team was "pleased and delighted" to have signed Canal and that his experience of the Ligier would "play a vital role in helping us to optimise the set-up of our new car".

Greaves has so far confirmed Gary Hirsch as one of the drivers for its Gibson-Nissan 015s with which it claimed the 2015 title.

The British team is also jointly running the Krohn Racing Ligier in the ELMS this season.
