Premat eyes more sportscars outings

Audi's Alexandre Premat is hoping to race more in sportscars after finishing fourth on his Le Mans 24 Hours debut on Sunday

The Frenchman partnered fellow DTM regular Mike Rockenfeller and American Le Mans Series racer Lucas Luhr in the No.3 R10 TDi, Audi's 'junior' car, and says he would like be a regular in the German manufacturer's endurance line-up.

"I'm very happy about my first taste of Le Mans," he told autosport.com. "For sure I want to come back with Audi. It's a very nice event and I would really like to do a double program like Tom (Kristensen). He's doing DTM, Le Mans and the Sebring 12 Hours as well.

Premat had already contested the first three Le Mans Series rounds this year for Audi but learned a lot more during the 24-hour race last weekend.

"Now I appreciate driving in the night," he said. "It's very exciting, I like it so much. I learned everything, the traffic at night, the time with the team, how to relax so you're focused when you get back in the car.

"I was very quick and I think I did a good job. The team was impressed with me after the night and I must say that the No.3 car could have been on the podium.

"We had some problems with the oil pressure which made a lot of space between us and the No.9 (Peugeot), but in general we have done a very good job."
