Peugeot hail successful comeback
Peugeot have declared their comeback to Le Mans a success after the No. 8 car of Sebastien Bourdais, Stephane Sarrzin and Pedro Lamy finished in second place
The Peugeot 908 struggled to match Audi's R10 for race pace, but Bourdais felt getting as close as they did was still an achievement.
"It underlines all the work that has been done by the team," he said. "For a car that started with a clean sheet to arrive on the podium at one of the world's hardest races is a great achievement.
"The car was only started six months ago, and this is a great result for us."
Lamy echoed the Frenchman's thoughts, and suggested that Sarrazin's pole lap might have provoked some unrealistic expectations about their chances in the race.
"If you think that six months ago we didn't exist, and now we are here, it is great," he said.
"Sebastien and Stephane did a great job and it was a great pole position, but the expectation was a bit too high afterwards for the race.
"We knew that it would be hard to get to the end, and to just finish makes us very happy."
