Hour 21: Teams settled in for run to finish

The remaining 28 runners in the Le Mans 24 Hours have the finish of the race within their sights. With only three hours remaining, drivers are braking earlier and using the throttle sparingly to ensure that their mounts complete over 5000 kms of racing

Only the pair of Team ORECA Dallaras are running on the same lap in the top ten, and look set to claim an impressive fifth and sixth place finish. Pedro Lamy, who flew in last night from a German V8 Star race, is holding Toyota F1 test driver Stephane Sarrazin off comfortably, over one minute up the road.

Bentley continue to be best of the rest after the Audi, albeit eight laps off the third-placed car currently driven by Philipp Peter.

Further down the field, the Racing For Holland Dome-Judd remains in eighth place, defying the expectation that their supposedly fragile package would not last into this morning.

It's a Corvette benefit in the GTS class, with former British F3 champion Oliver Gavin leading team-mate Andy Pilgrim by four laps. Corvette Racing look certain to repeat their class victory of 2001 after inheriting the lead from the fire damaged Prodrive Ferrari.

In the GT class, the Racers' Club Porsche leads the Freisinger Motorsport entry of Romain Dumas, who had led the class for some time earlier in the race.

And as if you needed reminding, Audi number one leads Audi number two at the head of the field, one lap apart.
