Hour 14: Audi emerge from the darkness
Audi's incredible reliabilty record faced the challenge of surviving the night in the Le Mans 24 Hours, emerging with its lead fully intact and looking set to take an incredible third consecutive win
The three cars have not skipped a beat for fourteen hours and also look set to take a clean sweep of the podium positions. The gap between the number one and number two Audis has remained stable at around two laps, both crews lapping consistently in the high 3m30s.
By contrast, the Team Goh Audi has struggled, showing good pace but also spending some time in the pits with mechanical niggles. Hiroki Katoh survived a trip across the gravel trap and the car now lies in ninth place, three laps down on the eighth placed ORECA Dallara of Nicolas Minassian.
The Bentley and number 6 Cadillac complete the top five, but pose no threat to the all-conquering Audis.
Jan Lammers will be delighted that the Racing For Holland Dome-Judd is still running in the top ten. Tom Coronel currently lies 7th despite spinning on cold tyres after pitting.
However, the crew are being made to work for there position, as Minassian is pushing hard to move up a position.
The battle for GT class honours remains tight, Sascha Maassen leading Timo Bernhard by only 1 lap.
