Hour 12: Halfway for Audi

The imperious trio of Audis continue to lead the Le Mans 24 Hours at half-distance. The Biela/Kristensen/Pirro car are on course for an incredible hat-trick of victories in the race, leading the number two Capello/Herbert/Pescatori car by two laps

The Team ORECA Dallara-Judds, hotly tipped to challenge the dominant Audi during the early stages after Stephane Sarrizin's stunning pre-qualifying pace, are both holding top ten positions. The Beretta/Lamy/Comas car lies sixth, the crew of ex-F1 drivers running two laps ahead of their team-mates who lie eighth. Franck Montagny, the current incumbent of the second ORECA, is one lap behind the Racing For Holland Dome-Judd of Val Hillebrand and closing.

MG, already deprived of the number 26 car which ran in the top three earlier in the race, are encountering more problems on their remaining entry. Mark Blundell runs in eleventh place, a lap down on the Team Goh Audi which has moved from 13th to 10th during the past hour.

Still the Prodrive Ferrari defies expectations, running reliably in the lead of the GTS class. Swiss DTM star Alain Menu is clearly putting his BTCC night racing experience to good use.

The two GT class minnows, Morgan and Spyker, are still running. Richard Stanton holds seventh in class for the Racesport Salisbury team, one place behind the all-Dutch Spyker driven by Edenbridge BTCC racer Norman Simon.

With half of the race behind them, the teams know that the hardest parts of the race are yet to come.
